| 25th ANNIVERSARY MONTH | Saturday, 7 August 2010 | | 7 August,Saturday, 11am to 4 pm, EXHIBITION AT FARNINGHAM VILLAGE HALL Includes display of metal detecting finds. Guided walk of village 2 pm. Refreshments available.m 12 August, Thursday Talk by Brian Philp at Lullingstone Roman Villa 6.30 for 7.00 pm, non-members £5, FELHS free, numbers limited. 14 August, Saturday, EXHIBITION AT EYNSFORD VILLAGE HALL details as for Farningham. 21 August, EXHIBITION AT CROCKENHILL VILLAGE HALL details of exhibition as for Farningham, but three visits during the day (see separate item below)28-30 August, 11.00 -5.00 pm Lullingstone Roman Villa Learning Space - Discoveries in the Darent Valley with Barbara Cannell. | | CROCKENHILL VISITS | Saturday, 21 August 2010 | | During the day when the FELHS history month is centred on Crockenhill three special visits have been arranged - all these highlight the Victorian heritage of the village:-
10-00 - 10.45 am - The Baptists in Crockenhill - this will include a visit to the Old Burying Ground, Crockenhill, which dates back to 1690s ,and the Baptist chapel with purpose-built Victorian school behind.
11.00 - 12.00 pm -The Foundry - this has the original lathes and machinery from the 1870s which was used to repair various types of steam traction engines. The owner, Edward Wood, the direct descendant of Thomas Wood (founder of the Founrry), is opening up the works especially for the Society. There are still traction engines to see on the site.
3.15 - 3.45 pm - The Church in Crockenhill - this will include a guided tour of the church, built in 1850 and largely unaltered, and views of the vicarage, almshouses and school site associated with the Church of England in the village.
